Job Description

Insurance Services Rep VII

  • Part-Time (17.5 Hours a week)
  • Shifts: Monday, Saturday and (various peak periods in work week)
  • 1325 Pemberton Ave, Squamish BC

With exceptional listening and compassion skills, and the ability to translate Vancity’s Good Money™brand promise to our members, you must have 1 year of recent experience in a sales role in an insurance services department or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Passing of the BC motor vehicle licensing test may also be a requirement.

The Insurance Services Rep VII reports directly into the Manager Squamish Insurance.

Key areas of accountability for this role are:

  • Prepare quotes, provide insurance advice on clients current and future needs and provide personal lines and auto insurance products both new and existing clients and provide Driver Licensing services.
  • Follow up on auto (including recreational vehicles) and personal lines renewal according to agency workflow procedures; send renewal letters, post new and renewal personal lines policies, follow up with clients for payment and renewal instructions.
  • Build the business by up-selling and cross-selling on additional insurance products and services within the agency.
  • Perform routine administrative elements of the work (e.g. order and organize the ICBC supplies and office supplies, prepare bank deposits, batch documents, mail distribution, filing, reminder calls for road tests consistent with agreed upon timelines, regulatory requirements and established standards.
  • Provide referrals for additional products and services offered by Squamish Savings and/ or Vancity.

Competencies:

  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to provide insurance advice (e.g. respond to inquiries, interpret policies and procedures).
  • Basic knowledge of the concepts, practices and techniques of the related field.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance underwriting processes.

Education:

  • High School Diploma
  • Post Secondary Education/Diploma (Related Discipline)
  • Fundamentals of Insurance or CAIB Level 1. (Asset)

Experience:

1 year of recent experience in a sales role in an insurance services department or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • General Insurance Salesperson Level 1 License.
  • Passing of the BC motor vehicle licensing test may also be a requirement. Level 1 general insurance license (to be completed within 840 hours or 6 months full time equivalent of assuming the role).
