Insurance Branch Manager

You will manage the day to day operations of Squamish Insurance and ensure operational, quality, and revenue targets are achieved. Mandate Statement:

Clients’ auto, home and business insurance and driver licensing needs in the Sea to Sky corridor will be met resulting in profitability and community well- being.

Key areas of accountability for this role are:

  • Manage a team of 12 direct reports to provide an exceptional customer experience.
  • Develop and implement a business plan, including maximizing marketing opportunities, to deliver on established business goals.
  • Monitor and optimize financial reporting and administration as well as operational practices consistent with established policies and procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Deliver quality insurance advice that meets personal and commercial client needs and balances risk and profitability.
  • Advise on strategic initiatives to realize agency profitability and growth.
  • Implement and forge relationships with community groups in order to deliver on the Community Engagement strategy.

  • Solid business acumen in the context of the insurance industry.

  • Solid knowledge of the concepts, practices and techniques of the insurance industry.
  • Solid planning and coordination skills to develop operating plans, processes, methods and standards for a unit and to coordinate delivery of programs and services.
  • Solid problem solving and decision making skills to diagnose challenges and issues; develop innovative business solutions; and to assess risks and opportunities that may affect the unit and or designated unit.
  • Solid research and analytical skills to assess and recommend course of action on trends, and to identify risks and opportunities that may impact the unit.

Education & Experience

Level 3 General Insurance Agent (Nominee) License required.

4-6 years experience managing a portfolio of insurance clients.

3 years of supervisory or management experience.

Experience working in a unionized environment and with collective agreements an asset.

Hours:  Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.  Occasional travel to Vancouver for meetings will be required.
